I just had an unexpected delight during my stay here in Singapore. I went with a friend to a restaurant, and he said that they were serving Spanish food. I was a bit skeptical at first, because this is not a place I would think that you could find good Spanish food, but it turns out that I was wrong. We had some Spanish Tapas for lunch at the restaurant he took me too, and it was some of the best Tapas I have ever had in my life, which is saying something, as I have visited Spain a few times.
Spanish cuisine has always been one of my favorites, and I think that is largely due to the fact that my grandmother was from Spain. She loved to cook for the whole family, and would make some amazing dishes. I wish that I had her recipes, and the skills required to replicate them. It would be awesome to be able to cook those dishes on my own, but sadly she never wrote any recipes down and just made food from memory. If I had thought about it, when I was younger, I would have tried to convince her to write some recipes down. That would have been a really smart move on my part.
But anyway, back to the Tapas that I had at this restaurant. They were really good, and although the place was a little more expensive than I am used to paying for a meal, it was well worth the expense. I hope to go back there soon, but I only have another week left in the country before I am flying home. I guess I will have to try to work it into my schedule somehow and figure out a good time to go back.
